Every sip contributes to something greater

Sip For Good

Treading lightly

We honour the ecosystem that surrounds us through our commitment to small-batch production, ecologically conscious operations, and the responsible sourcing of ingredients and packaging.

Solar power at the distillery

Sustainability

Solar-powered distilling

Fuelled entirely by the strength of the African sun, our 100% off-grid distillery uses renewable solar energy to power every stage of production, throughout distillation and bottling and to dispatch.

Operating independently of conventional infrastructure allows us to tread more lightly within this remarkable ecosystem while demonstrating what thoughtful manufacturing can look like in remote wilderness environments.

Okavango water borrowed and returned

Sustainability

Okavango Waters

At the heart of our gin lies the pure water of the Okavango Delta. Having travelled more than a thousand miles from its source in the Angolan Highlands, it is naturally filtered through the Delta's sand and papyrus beds before reaching the Tsutsubega floodplain, where it is carefully drawn and distilled into every bottle.

Okavango Gin bottles

Packaging

Why this bottle?

Our bottle reflects a conscious choice to prioritise sustainability over unnecessary complexity. By sourcing our glass from South Africa, we reduce transport distances and avoid shipping bottles across oceans to get to us. The result is a simple, practical, recyclable bottle that aligns with our commitment to treading lightly, with a label reflective of Southern African design and craftsmanship.

Delta botanicals

Sourcing

Botswana Botanicals

Our locally sourced ingredients include mopane seeds collected by the Tsutsubega Community, pure Okavango water, honey sourced from across Botswana, citrus grown in Maun, and Marula Beer produced by the Gweta Community. Together, they create the distinctive character of our gins while connecting every bottle to the landscapes and communities that inspire it.

Recycling and circularity

Circularity

Recycling

Our bottle recovery programme gives used Okavango Gin bottles a second life. Collected from safari lodges and the wider Maun community, they are recycled locally through Impact Fund's Crafted Botswana initiative and transformed into new products with purpose. By purchasing these upcycled bottles, we help support local enterprise, create employment opportunities and contribute to a more circular economy.

Deliver your empty bottles to The Duck Cafe, Maun or to The Glass Project at Sedia Hotel.

Tsutsubega Playground

Community

Tsutsubega Playground

The Tsutsubega Playground Initiative is helping to create a brighter future for the village's youngest residents. Through a safe and nurturing environment, children are given the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive.

We are proud to support this initiative through direct donations from our Out of Africa Export bottles and distillery tours. Beyond financial support, we have worked hand-in-hand with the community to paint, build shade, and donate playground equipment. Together, we're helping create opportunities for children while investing in the long-term wellbeing of the community.

Community

Women Empowerment Centre

Women from Maun, Tsutsubega and surrounding areas gather here to learn skills, create handmade products, and share knowledge with one another; building sustainable opportunities through collective work and entrepreneurship.

We are deeply grateful to be able to support these women through our Sip For Good initiative, sourcing handcrafted pieces directly from them for Okavango Gin. You’ll find their pieces at our Maun Airport shop.
