A distillery, inspired by nature

Overlooking a seasonal floodplain of the Okavango Delta, our off-grid distillery sits immersed in one of the world's most extraordinary ecosystems.

Founded by a group of naturalists, safari guides, and tourism professionals, Okavango Gin was created with a shared belief that responsible tourism can be a force for positive change. As Botswana's first distillery and the producer of the country's first gin, we have pioneered an industry that previously did not exist.

Our commitment to treading lightly shapes every aspect of our business. We choose small-batch production over scale, prioritising quality, ecologically conscious operations, and responsibly sourced ingredients, packaging, and raw materials.

Hidden beneath a forest of Ebony trees, our gin is truly a testament to wild-crafting, slowly, with nature.

A daily invitation to pause

To breathe deeply. To be fully here, now.

To smile, and remember what's precious.

A daily invitation to pause

We invite you to slow down at sunset

Okavango Gin is synonymous with an Okavango Sundowner. A local tradition to end the day with a moment to appreciate our surroundings and our people when the sun sets. Visitors to the Okavango have taken this ritual with them, because everywhere on earth has a sunset, and everyone needs a moment of appreciation.

To breathe deeply.
To be fully here, now.
To smile, and remember what's precious.

Sundowners

OUR RITUAL

Begin 30 minutes before sunset.

Pour your preferred gin cocktail, or follow one of the serves in our Perfect Pour booklet. Then set a timer for 30 minutes and put distractions aside.

Step away from the notifications, the to-do lists and the endless scroll. Instead, turn your attention to the people around you, the dog at your feet, the sounds of the evening, or simply the fading light of the Delta-inspired hour.

This is a moment to acknowledge the day that has passed and create space for the one still unfolding.

Simple, perhaps. Necessary; certainly.

Make it a daily ritual and see what changes when you choose to slow down.

Distillery Tour by Helicopter

We've created an extraordinary way to experience our distillery; its wildness and remoteness yours to explore for the afternoon.

The journey begins with a short helicopter transfer into the Delta. Upon arrival, the doors are removed and you'll embark on a breathtaking 45-minute scenic flight, offering an unrivalled perspective of one of the world's most remarkable ecosystems.

Back on the ground, you'll be welcomed with a Gin & Tonic or signature cocktail before joining a guided tour of the distillery. Here, you'll discover how Okavango Gin is made and learn about the positive impact the business creates for local communities and the regional economy.

You'll then have the opportunity to bottle your own complimentary gin before settling into the shade of the ebony forest, where time seems to move a little more slowly.

A short helicopter transfer returns you to Maun, carrying with you a deeper connection to the Delta, its people and the spirit inspired by it.
