Where is Okavango Gin made?

Okavango Gin is distilled and bottled at our off-grid distillery in the Okavango Delta, near the village of Tsutsubega in Botswana. It is one of the first gins distilled in Botswana, made with water and botanicals sourced from the Delta itself.

What botanicals are in Okavango Gin?

Our flagship gin, The Sentinel, is built around mopane seed, a native Botswanan botanical with resinous, pine-like aromas that plays the role juniper does in other gins. It is joined by wild marula and water filtered naturally through the sand and papyrus of the Delta.

What does The Sentinel taste like?

The Sentinel is smooth and aromatic, with pine-like notes from mopane seed, a subtle nuttiness from marula, and a clean, mineral finish from Okavango water. It shines in a simple gin and tonic or an Okavango Sundowner.

How should I drink Okavango Gin?

Serve The Sentinel over plenty of ice with a good tonic and a twist of citrus for a classic gin and tonic, or explore our cocktail recipes. Traditionally it is enjoyed as a Sundowner, poured about 30 minutes before the last light of the day.

What is an Okavango Sundowner?

A Sundowner is a Delta tradition: a drink enjoyed at sunset to mark the end of the day and appreciate your surroundings. Okavango Gin was made for exactly this ritual.

Is Okavango Gin sustainable?

Can I visit the distillery?

Yes. We host tours at our Delta distillery, and a portion of every tour goes directly to supporting the local community. Contact us to arrange a visit.

Do you offer a helicopter distillery tour?

Yes. Our fly-in distillery experience takes you by helicopter from Maun on a 45-minute scenic flight over the Delta, then a guided tour of the off-grid distillery, a welcome gin and tonic or signature cocktail, and the chance to bottle your own gin before settling into the shade of the ebony forest.
