100% off-grid distillery
A gin born out of a love for the wilderness, our distillery is situated in an area true to its ethos, wild and free.

Completely off-grid and hidden under an Ebony Tree forest, our gin is made quietly out in Nature. At night, distant calls of Lions accompany the macerating gin and by day the sound of breaking branches mark the presence of bull Elephants.
Our commitment to tread lightly echoes through our philosophies: honouring small batch production; ecologically conscious operations; and responsibly sourced raw materials and packaging. We endeavour to constantly improve and adapt.

Botswana's
first distillers
Okavango Gin was founded by a handful of likeminded naturalists, safari guides, tourism professionals with
a deep passion for the unique ecosystems in which we operate, and a mission to make positive change in Africa by constantly evaluating and enhancing the positive impact of responsible tourism.
Okavango Gin has done just this, by pioneering an industry in Botswana that didn't previously exist. Extending and expanding the footprint of responsible tourism in Botswana by supporting the diversification of the domestic manufacturing industry and creating a platform for domestic skill development.

This is why we are Proudly Botswana and can proudly say that we are

Africa's Safari Gin of Choice.

Early childhood development and care program at "THE tsutsubega playground"

With the support of Okavango Gin, Re Jala Peo has launched it own playgroup in Tsutsubega, the village where the founder Katja and our off-grid distillery lives.
Here, young children, including those with intellectual disabilities, receive early childhood education, enriched with the Aflatot social and financial education program. On top of that, we provide healthy meals and snacks to support their growth and well-being.

Aflatot is an early childhood education program developed by Aflatoun International. It focuses on social and financial education for young children (ages 3–6). Through playful activities, storytelling, and games, children learn important life skills such as sharing, making choices, understanding emotions, saving, and taking care of resources. The program helps children build confidence, develop empathy, and begin to understand the value of money and planning; skills that support them for life.
